B-Attitudes Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation, a public benevolent institution, with tax deductible status and Charitable Collections Licence. B-Attitudes Inc. is a free community based service. B-Attitudes ABN registration was gained on 27th March 2002 and endorsement as an income tax exempt charitable entity was gained on 21st February 2002. Endorsement as a deductible gift recipient was issued in July 2002, effective from 7th March.

The community base was secured on 28th March 2002 at a rent subsidised by the owners who supported the vision of the founding directors. The base up to the end of June 2004 was funded by donations from community groups, businesses and individuals. Rental for the first year was donated The Humanity Trust, the second year rental provided by donations from Belgravia Group, Riverview Church, Victory Life Church and Soroptimist International. All office equipment and supplies have been donated or purchased by way of small equipment grants and a philanthropic grant. The three founding directors worked unpaid for 2 ½ years, with some costs covered by private donations and from Soroptimist International South Perth, Perth and Joondalup. The three founding directors donated an average of 40 hours service each week for this period, plus hospitality and travel. The work is labour intensive, long term, and includes family and significant others, including children.

Federal funding under the National Illicit Drug Strategy Non Government Organisation Treatment Grants Program via the Dept. Of Health and Ageing grant was awarded from 2004-2006, providing for minimum costs. This was renewed from 2006-2008 without indexation. Unfortunately B-Attitudes were informed two weeks before the end of this agreement that this will not be renewed. Future funding relies on competitive tender process, donations and divine intervention.

In 2006 with rent doubling, the fixed base was replaced by the use of a meeting room in West Perth, made available free by Soroptimist International Perth, and the continuing mobile service, using the founding directors own vehicles. In July 2007 a second hand vehicle was donated to B-Attitudes and is still used. After a 2 year process involving a feasibility, business and strategic plan formulation by a private consultant, funded by Lotterywest grant, a brand new mobile office/people mover was purchased in 2008, supported by a Lotterywest vehicle grant awarded in late 2007.

B-Attitudes strategic plan involves training new recovery facilitators to ensure longevity of the service, expand the service, and to increase sustainability.

Private donations are essential to provide for running costs and to expand the service further.
